Palace of Culture and Science – Warsaw’s Iconic Landmark

The Palace of Culture and Science in Warsaw is one of the most recognisable symbols of Poland’s capital. Built in the 1950s as a “gift from the Soviet Union,” it represents Socialist Realism architecture at its most monumental scale.

With its 237 metres of height, the building dominated the city skyline for decades and still serves as a cultural and business hub — housing theatres, museums, offices and a panoramic viewing terrace.

Despite its controversial history, today the Palace of Culture and Science stands as an important part of Warsaw’s identity — a blend of historic weight and modern urban life.
